Sam Johnson is the Engineering Superintendent at Point Hope Shipyard, located in Victoria’s Inner Harbour. With a Bachelor of Technology in Manufacturing Technology from BCIT in Vancouver, and holding an AScT certification through ASTTBC, Sam’s experience in shipbuilding and industrial repairs has been garnered while working for west coast ship-centric marquees.
Some accomplishments included, cad/cam work tool paths for CNC cutting equipment, and implementation of a fiber optic network system serving plasma and flame profile cutting machines for Seaspan’s shipyard. At Manly Closures, Sam was tasked with refining and design specializing of marine doors, windows and hatches, as well as the implementing and administration of an ISO Quality and Environmental System.
While at Washington Yachting Group as a Structural Designer, with a direct report to the General Manager, and multi-million dollar budget, allowed for great creativity on a yacht conversion project, to an award winning level.
In 2012, Sam took advantage of an opportunity with Point Hope Maritime Ltd. as Project Manager, rising to Engineering Superintendent, overseeing detail design work, research and application of various rules and regulations and a broad range of shipyard technical services.
