Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC), formerly known as Public Works and Government Service Canada, will host numerous events before, and during this year Mari-Tech 2018 Technical Conference and Marine Exhibition occurring in Victoria, BC, in April.

PSPC is the central purchasing arm of the Canadian federal government, with an annual operating budget of $4b and a procurement budget of over $14 billions dollars. With considerable expenditure in the maritime field, PSPC is  interested in reaching out to suppliers and expertise from the marine industry, and Mari-Tech is an excellent vehicle for this exchange.

On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, PSPC will hold:

Federal Marine Procurement Outlook Session

Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC), with the support of the Department of National Defence (DND), department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and Canadian Coast Guard, Transport Canada (TC), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), as well as Innovation Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) will be presenting a federal marine procurement outlook sessions in Salon C of Carson Hall (upper floor of the Victoria Conference Center).

The agenda:

  • 13:15-13:30 – Opening remarks
  • 13:30-13:45 – Federal contracting overview
  • 13:45-14:15 – ISED outlook
  • 14:15-14:45 – Canadian Coast Guard, DFO outlook
  • 14:45-15:15 – Break
  • 15:15-15:45 – DND outlook
  • 15:45-16:15 – TC, Royal Canadian Mounted Police outlook
  • 16:15-16:45 – Panel – questions and answers
  • 16:45-17:00 – Wrap-up

The above sessions will focus on upcoming marine procurement. The sessions are free of charge and will provide an overview of upcoming procurement over the course of the next three years. Areas such as small vessel construction, vessel repair, refit and life extension, sustainment, vessel chartering, disposal and other special projects in the realm of marine equipment will be covered.

In addition to the Federal Marine Procurement Outlook Session on Wednesday, April 18, PSPC will be hosting One-on-One Engagement Discussions on Thursday, April 19 and Friday April 20, during Mari-Tech 2018.

This is an opportunity for one-on-one engagement discussions between the PSPC (the Canadian federal government) and interested industry parties (B2G) attending Mari-Tech 2018. This opportunity will be of particular interest to small and medium sized, marine-focused enterprises wishing to refine their understanding of specific requirements, or to showcase their capabilities/capacities.

In addition, staff from Public Service and Procurement Canada will also be available at Booth 24, at the Marine Exhibition portion of Mari-Tech 2018, on Thursday and Friday. The Marine Exhibition will open to the general public on both days, after the last coffee break.
